Our amazing team of volunteers at Tapping House are vital to us. We simply couldn’t function without the dedication of our invaluable volunteers. From helping in our charity shops to supporting patients and families, volunteers are the backbone of our hospice – and their contribution makes an incredible difference. 

We have a variety of volunteer roles available all the time. If you’re keen to make a difference with any spare time you have then please consider becoming a part of a community where your work truly matters. Our volunteers help us in more ways than they will ever know.

Volunteer Roles Include

Retail Support: Help in our network of charity shops, where every sale raises vital funds to support our services.

Fundraising & Events: Assist with community events, campaigns, or collections to raise much-needed funds.

Patient and Family Support: Offer companionship, help with daily activities, or lend a listening ear to patients and families in our care.

Administration and Office Support: Help behind the scenes with admin tasks that keep our hospice running smoothly, greeting people and answering the phone.

Butterfly Volunteers

Can you support us with the pilot of this service?

We are currently recruiting for volunteers to support patients and their families, primarily in patients homes.

As a Butterfly Volunteer you will be supporting those approaching the end of their life. You will be providing company, comfort, reassurance and emotional support to patients and their families.

Volunteer Drivers

We’re currently recruiting volunteer drivers to help with this vital service.

Our Patient Transport service provides a safe and efficient, high quality transport service for patients, their families and their carers – from their homes to the Hospice, and the return journey. This may be for day therapy assessments and groups, bereavement/family support, complementary therapies or any other service offered by the Hospice.

In one of the hospice vehicles you’ll pick passengers up at a prearranged time and take them from their home to the hospice.

We are in particular need on Friday’s.

 

Woodwork Volunteer

Supporting our woodwork group on a Tuesday morning.

As a woodwork volunteer you’ll actively participate in group sessions by supporting the lead, proactively spend time talking to the patients, supporting and helping them create different types of woodwork items.

Activities:

  • Constructing pre-cut bird boxes
  • Making candle holders
  • Constructing planters
  • Simple wood-kits

Volunteer - Tulip Centre

We urgently need your help at our Tulip Centre helping to support patients at our groups, in particular on a Wednesday.

Volunteer Receptionist

If you love speaking on the phone and meeting patients and families visiting the Hospice, we’d love to hear from you. You need to be able to volunteer weekly. 

Volunteer - Complementary Therapist

The Tulip Centre is looking for a qualified Complementary Therapist, providing therapies to outpatients and/or inpatients 

IPU Ward Volunteers

Ward volunteers help to create a pleasant physical environment for patients during their stay. Helping with meals/ refreshments for both visitors and patients. 

Volunteer to Garden

The hospice’s grounds need enthusiastic gardeners to keep them looking welcoming for patients and visitors.
