Our Rapid Response service operates through the night
to respond to unplanned
care needs.

At life’s most delicate moments, timely support can make all the difference. Our Rapid Response Service makes sure that patients and their loved ones receive the care, guidance, and reassurance they need – exactly when they need it most.

Whether it’s practical assistance, expert advice, or a comforting presence, our compassionate Nursing team is just a call away, day or night. We understand the challenges that come with serious illness, and we’re here to bring not only professional care but also warmth, understanding, and peace of mind.

Our Rapid Response out-of-hours service operates between 7pm and 7am, 7 days a week. Providing patients and their families peace of mind, knowing that professional help is just a phone call away,
day or night.

Rapid Response Expert Care

Our Rapid Response service operates between 7 pm and 7 am, 7 days a week and is staffed by experienced Registered Nurses and Palliative Nursing Assistants.

We provide hands-on nursing care, advice and support for people with a palliative diagnosis or those who are living with a life-limiting condition in West Norfolk.

The Rapid Response service aims to provide patients and carers with the practical assistance and emotional support they need, at a time when they need it most.

The team will make unplanned visits to patient’s in their own homes and care homes throughout the night.

What we can do:

  • Provide telephone advice or signpost you to the most appropriate source of support
  • Complex symptom management, including the administration of injectable medications
  • Offer hands-on nursing care
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to both the patient, carers and loved ones
  • Manage unexpected events and crises such as falls
  • Offer support after discharge from hospital
  • Complete the verification of expected death and provide care and support immediately after death

"The whole team at the Hospice were invaluable during the final stages of my mother-in-law’s life. From the moment she was given the devastating news that her illness was terminal and she would now receive palliative care, the Hospice offered a range of services for her to access and were always on hand to offer support and advice.

During her final stages, the Rapid Response team were available for us during the night. This service really was vital. When you are with a loved one as they fight against the illness that will eventually take them, it is comforting to know that support and care is available at the end of the telephone during those hours of darkness.

The Hospice’s Rapid Response team supported us as a family whilst providing vital care. The team showed compassion and respect and it was clear to see that they really do love what they do. They were at the end of the telephone whenever I needed them and they would remind me that I can call at any time if I was worried.

Caring for a loved one undergoing palliative care is one of the hardest things to have to experience, but this was made easier by the Rapid Response team. There are no real words that can show enough gratitude to the Hospice for all the support they gave us as a family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
